The Dirt!

WE setup the foodcube as per the instructions and filled it with the recommended (expensive) potting mix. Seeds and seedling all kept failing. Seeds would come up and then die within the week. Seedlings would last about 10 days or so and then die. I tried everything and nothing seemed to work. After 3 months the only thing I could figure that was different to my other thriving vegie patches was the dirt. I replaced the top 1/3 of the expensive potting mix and replaced it with my compost and now everything grows. Further, the recommendation was for 13 bags of this expensive dirt and I only needed 11 bags to fill the foodcube and as it turns out I did not need any at all.

Hi Ross, I'm sorry to here about your experience with the soil. Where did you purchase your Foodcubes from please? Your email address is not coming up as one of our customers. It would have been great if you'd reached out earlier, before you added compost to the mix. We could have sent it back to our supplier to test what was happening. We sell thousands of Foodcubes per year and typically customers tell us that they are getting the best crops they have ever grown in our recommended mix. You may have been recommended something different that is not designed for wicking beds. I've sent you a private email to follow up on your experience.

Satisfied customers

We are happy owners of 4 large and 2 slim food cubes. They provide us with a constant supply of fresh organic veges. Our grandchildren helped set them up and planted seeds and seedlings which they now proudly harvest.

Thanks for your review. There's nothing better than sharing fresh grown food with your friends and family. Thanks for sharing your experience growing veggies with your grandkids. Happy Gardening.

Better insturctions and information needed

I am so glad we had our neighbours Lyn and Jack to help us put them together and purchase the correct soil for us. We would not have been able to put them together without their help and advice.

Hi Linda, I'm sorry to hear that you had issues understanding how to set up a Foodcube by yourself. I am happy to hear however that Lyn and Jack could help you get your Foodcube set up and working. For help with setting up products in the future, we do have an installation video and written instructions available on our website. https://foodcube.com.au/blogs/resources/installation-guides-1 We recommend watching the video or reading the instructions first before trying to work it out for yourself.

Brilliant design

I purchased the full size food cube at the garden show and have been delighted with it. Last year many plants just gave up despite my spending hours watering, but with food cube every plant is throiving. The set-up was simple and the videos and other resources clear and helpful. Most of all the staff were all helpful and willing to return calls and discuss my needs every step at way. couldn't be happier. Have even started wnadering out each morning to see the progress!!

Thanks for taking the time to review your Foodcube. We're very happy to hear that you were able to set it up using our video resources and your plants are growing well. Happy Gardening!
