Biofilta has supplied a large number of our water efficient Foodcubes wicking beds to the Walgett Aboriginal Community Garden in Western NSW. They are the backbone of food production in the garden which is located in an area prone to high temperatures, heatwaves, drought and water stress.
The Foodcubes have been working very well in temperatures that have reached the high 40’s celcius and have been demonstrating good food production in difficult circumstances.
The Community Garden was initiated by the Walgett Aboriginal Health Service and is part of the Healthy For Life Program. Once harvested, the fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs grown in the garden are distributed to the community.
This innovative project was covered by the ABC in 2020.
