Check out this new streetscape in Ashburton using Melbourne manufactured wicking beds made by Biofilta. The City of Boroondara upgraded a small shopping strip in Ashburton and wanted to include low maintenance planters that could also grow herbs. The Foodcube met the criteria of locally made, long lasting and highly water efficient due to bottom-up wicking technology. This is an example of effective integration of low maintenance, water efficient food production into urban form. Let’s hope it becomes mainstream practice in public open space in future😊🍎🥦🍊🍏🌶
